Work experience while you study
Work in the US after graduation with Optional Practical Training (OPT).
You can apply for OPT to work in your field for 12 months. If you studied a STEM-designated degree, you could qualify for the STEM OPT extension. This allows you to work in the US for an additional two years. With STEM OPT, you can work in the US for up to three years.
Our international students hold an F-1 visa, which allows them to study full-time in the US. Our International Student Services team will guide you through the OPT and STEM OPT application process. They’ll make sure you understand the rules and stay compliant — for example, reporting your employer within 10 days and not exceeding 90 days without work. With our support, you can focus on building your career and gaining real-world experience.
